Release Time:2023.04.03
1. Poor adhesion of the coating, rubbing off with the hand;
2. The coating does not take long to crack and peel;
3. It looks good on the surface, but it just doesn't work as expected, etc.
In fact, it is not that the coating performance is not good, nor is the application environment wrong, it is likely to be a key step in the construction operation - base surface pretreatment, which is not done.
The importance of base pretreatment ↓
1. Strengthen the coating adhesion: make the coating firmly stick to the base;
2. Prevent coating damage: remove the corrosive substances on the base surface to protect the coating gas film from damage;
3. Promote the coating effect: the base surface is not dirty or bad, in order to support the normal material flow and molecular movement, so that the coating "comes alive".
If the base surface pretreatment is not done well, it will greatly affect the application effect and maintenance life of the coating.
Precautions for base surface pretreatment ↓
Pretreatment methods of different base surfaces vary greatly. Taking metal base surface as an example, three points need to be noted:
1. Cleanliness level
If an oil-based coating is used, simply clean the base surface. The water-based coating is more demanding, and the substrate surface needs to be cleaned strictly according to the product instructions. If the substrate is in a harsh environment such as high temperature, humidity, deep water and other environments for a long time, then the cleanliness of the base surface must reach at least Sa2.5 level.
2. Chemical treatment
If there are signs of corrosion on the base surface, special treatment such as rust removal and salt removal must be carried out. Equipment can be used to detect the types and concentrations of soluble salts remaining on the base surface and take corresponding treatment measures. Because some biochemical corrosion is not visible to the naked eye, it is necessary to consciously emphasize the importance of chemical treatment.
3. Mechanical processing
If the metal base surface is relatively smooth (such as stainless steel), the direct spraying is prone to the problem of poor coating adhesion, so it must be shot peening, the purpose is to make the base surface form a rough structure and improve the binding strength of the base surface and the coating.
These are the operating guidelines for metal base pretreatment. There are other precautions in the coating construction, please look forward to small positive titanium for you to introduce oh!)
